Wowza!

February 3rd, 2010 at 10:20 pm

So I did a tentative run of my taxes. I always do them by hand AND online to ensure I'm not missing anything. And the first version I did says I'll get back $1331 federal and 397 state!

I had some extreme things happen that caused my itemized deductions to greatly change my taxes. I can guarentee this will not happen again next year!

Still - 2/3 ($1152) of any refund I get will go to my credit card and 1/3 ($576) will go to my vacation fund. Yay.

Lucky you! I'm hoping for a rare good-sized refund as well, but am still waiting for a a 1099 and other stuff

Enjoy! I do our taxes by hand and online, too.

I am so confused this year, I don't know how I'll do my taxes! I used to turbo tax, but can't this year.

HouseHopeful, I'm the same way. I have to see the forms in front of me and think it through myself, then check it against whatever software I'm using. (Years that I just do them by hand, I triple-check the instructions and my math.)

I'm always a little disappointed when I get a refund because it means I didn't figure things out right, but at the same time, since I assumed I was getting the right amount in my paycheck the whole year, it feels a bit like free money and I enjoy getting to do something with it. Smile
boo, try TaxAct.com. Fairly easy question-and-answer format, and if you dodge all their upsells, it's free. No matter how many forms and schedules, no matter your income.
