So I have alluded to being sick. Part of it was the nasty 2 week-ish bug going around everyone I know. Part is first trimester super morning sickness. I am almost 3 months along now and FINALLY starting to feel better!
So many things will be changing for us. We have plenty of medical expenses to plan for. I want to beef up the Efund. We need to do some repairs to the spare bedroom/windows prior to turning it into a nursery and we have to revamp the budget. Should be a fun ride!
We are incredibly excited. I am happy that we are probably getting some hand-me-downs from my sister. My niece just turned 1 and will be almost 2 when our baby gets here.
We told the folks by printing out tickets that look like Ticketmaster tickets with the baby info and giving them to our family members telling them we won a bunch of tickets to an event. It was super cute and free. I found a template online & my hubs printed them at work. My mom loves that she can keep the ticket as a keepsake!
I am reading blogs/articles for suggestions as what to do to prepare for the baby. So far, some suggestions have been the following. Please feel free to add yours!
-Meal plan for freezer meals to make a month before the dude date
-stock up on deals for household items/groceries to help skip last minute store runs for things like toilet paper
-stock up on deals on baby wipes & diapers
Pregnant!

I was useless trimester 1 and 3; only felt good the 2nd trimester. Just to say do what you can while feeling well.

Motherhood. The best journey I have ever taken. And the best adventure I've undertaken.

Hand-me-downs are also great for things like swings, bouncy seats, jumperoos, toys, etc. Babies and kids do come with a lot of stuff, and it can be bulky to store in between kids if that's the plan. You might find people are happy to pass their stuff off to you and then get it back if they have another kid. That's what we did, and we moved twice in between kids and I was so happy not to have to move all that stuff. We just got it all back from our friends now with DS2, and will pass it back when they have their DS2 It's also nice because all babies are different, and one baby will love a bouncy seat and the next will hate it. So it's nice not to invest too much in these sorts of things. In fact, if you can't borrow it for free, you might hold off on buying lots of that stuff until after your baby comes and you get a feel for what he or she likes and needs. Newborns need very little, so you have time to add stuff later if you want.
That being said, I always found it helpful to spell out in advance what the plan was once we (or they) were done with borrowed stuff. Do they want it back? Can I pass it on to someone else? Should I ask before passing it on in case there is another kid coming? This way I didn't give anything away that someone wanted later, and we got all our old stuff back for kid #2!
Sorry so long; I'll shut up now. But very excited for you!

The things I was most glad to have when baby came along:
A lightweight reclined vibrating bouncy seat with a handle so I could carry her from room to room, and the buzzing calmed her most of the time.
A nursing pillow called "My Brest Friend" (I know, groan!)
A Baby Bjorn for when she could hold her head up better, so I could take her places without a stroller, and walk her around to soothe her while I did other stuff.
A pacifier called "Nattersutten" with a clip/strap to attach it to her onesie. (Worked like a charm with the first kid, but the second one preferred her hand.
And for me, cozy soft clothes, the book "What to Expect the First Year", nutritious snacks I could grab when too tired to cook, and the knowledge that it gets much easier after a few months!
