Rescued a Kitten

May 11th, 2008 at 10:51 pm

Today was a no spender, tomorrow is definately not.

I rescued a kitten yesterday morning. It had been crying in my & my neighbors' back yards for two nights. We couldn't get it, so we were feeding it a little. Its only a few weeks old and was starving.

Well, yesterday, I was able to capture it and now its living in my spare bedroom. Separate from my cat Colbi until I can get her to the vet tomorrow to be sure she's not sick.

So far, I've spent $1.00 for a cat food/water dish. $1.00 for cat litter. $1.00 for cat pan liner bags. $3.49 for a litter box. $4.49 for kitten food. (its WAY too young to eat my cat's adult food.

The kitten's a sweetheart. Tiny, probably only 4-5 weeks old. Its skin & bones and although I didn't want/need a cat, I'm going to keep it. So I have lots of upcoming vet expenses for shots, neutering, and declawing.

I'm going to work something out. In the meantime, I get to enjoy the cuteness of the baby kitty Smile I'll try to take some pictures and post them when I can. He is SO adorable.

I have eight kitty kats, six of which are rescues. One was a mama cat I took off the hands of a neighbor friend who also rescues the neighborhood feline felons. The mama cat, whom I've named "Mama" had four wee ones with her when I decided to foster them. Well, fostering turned into keeping them. My daughter took two of the girls with her to college. I kept Mama, her only boy and the tinier of the females, with whom I adored from the get-go. She's a tuxedo cat - black and white. I spent a lot of time with her and she pretty much imprinted on me, that to this day regards me as her mom. It's pretty neat.

It isn't cheap, but I find it most fulfilling knowing I had a role in the lives of these furbabies. Enjoy yours. He will let you know he appreciates that you rescued him. They have a way of knowing this, it's pretty uncanny.

poor little thing at least he/she found a good home. My boss found a cat and named her Annie after the little orphan Annie

good for you. The mom may have been hit by a car, eaten by a racoon, poor kitty. The calm, peace and fun you get from this kitten is well worth any $$ she takes from you.
