Today at work, we felt the building shake. Someone on a phone call in a nearby office came out & said they were just on the phone with the office in Canada & the office had to hang up becuase they were in an earthquake. A minute later we felt it here. Tiny shaking, lasting only 30 seconds.
Security for the building said it was really a termite inspection, but we have a huge building and all 3 floors on all sides felt it. Two hours later, the local online paper confirmed it. We had a tremor all the way here in Delaware. Kinda crazy. Never felt that before.
*****warning -disturbing information to follow *****
There have been some recent abductions and rapes occuring close to my home and work. Two by the same man who basically carjacked the women, forced them to drive around at gunpoint, raped them several times, then set them free after he took their licenses and told them to not talk about what happened because he had their address. I'm happy to report, that as of today, the police have caught the guy.
These things can happen anywhere, but they are very much at the forefront of our minds in the community. A result of this community awareness is that different organizations have offered free self defense classes and I will be attending one tonight.
I'm glad they caught the guy and I'm very sorry for his victims and their families. I'll never understand violence, especially against women.

I hope you enjoy your class. I volunteer to teach a women's self defense class. There is always a spike in interest after there have been rapes or abductions. Women unfortunately tend to give, give, give and don't take time for themselves. We also end up with a lot of women who have already been victimized. I hate the fact that these classes are needed at all, but I always enjoy teaching and seeing the women develop over the class sessions.
