Meanness on Saving Advice

November 23rd, 2013 at 03:15 pm

Normally, I keep my trap shut regarding snark online. However, in keeping up with the blogs and message boards on this site this morning, I saw some absolute nastiness.

I have been with SavingAdvice for a long time and I have always found this site to be encouraging. Even when having differences of opinion, people value other's input.

I want to thank those that have encouraged such a strong, caring environment and hope that they will inspire others will live up this legacy.

If you ever see anything you feel is inappropriate on the forums, please click the little red and white triangle at the upper right of the post and report it to the moderators. Discussions are fine. Disagreements are to be expected, but as a friend of mine often says, you need to disagree without being disagreeable. Personal attacks won't be tolerated and I and the other moderators will be happy to remove offensive posts.

Nicely stated. Snarki-ness and mean-ness have no place here.

Hi, disneysteve. I don't see any triangles to the upper right of blog postings or comments on blogs. I am logged in, so why would I not be able to see it?

liblady - Steve was talking about postings in the forums. There isn't anything like that for the blog posts. If someone leaves a rude/mean comment on a blog post, the author can delete it (or what happens usually here, have a bunch of other SA posters let the person know that ISN"T tolerated here!)
