Retirement Accounts Update - SOOO close to 100k

April 15th, 2016 at 02:20 pm

Today was payday & my 401k contributions/match aren't showing in my account yet, but I am pretty happy to say that I am pretty close to meeting 100k in my personal retirement accounts (my husbands are not included).

IRA AF: $16,417.01
IRA JP1: $44,512.37
IRA JP2: $2,006.63
VG 401k: $33,983.48

TOTAL: $96,919.49

SOOOO close I can taste it! Today's check includes $734.29 and match $275.36 will get me a little close. I can't wait to see that magic number!

Kudos, you are doing far better than you might realize. We're looking at retirement and suddenly realize that the paltry contributions we made in our mmid 20's plus combinations of employment and personal monthly in 30-40's has magically compounded into 'real' retirement money. It's that long term effect...the little bumps that scared me don't really make a lot of difference.

Are you still planning to sell and buy a larger home?

Thanks guys! Snafu - yes, we're still trying to upgrade a little. This townhouse is only 2 bedrooms and we are hoping to move to 3 br/2bath. We went through the 'how much house do we want' process by backing into it based on the mortgage payment amount that we wanted (including taxes and insurance). I already have several budget options in place for different scenarios LOL

Very nice! I can relate to the strong motivation to see the next increment - I'm the same way. Just know that it'll happen quicker now (to get to $200k). That first milestone is the longest. Congratulations!
