Today's spending: $20.00 copay

March 29th, 2007 at 12:44 am

UGH. Since when are my copays for office visits $20.00? Oh yeah, since 2007. I remember waaay back in 2005, when my office copay was $5.00 and my SPECIALIST copay was $15.00! Geeze. I don't want to think about what its going to be like in 2010!

Ok, sorry for the sarcasm, its all out now. I feel better Smile

Well, for the $20.00, I got to talk to my doctor about my migranes, get 3 prescriptions AND to schedule a follow up in 2 months.

I've always had migranes, but they've been more severe and frequent in the last 3 months. So I'm hoping these meds will help. I'll be taking a daily med for prevention, a medicine to take when the migrane starts & and a high-falooting pain med that WILL make me very goofy, but definately feel better. Hopefully this will help Smile

On the upside, I packed all my food for work today, but they treated us to pizza so that was nice. Yesterday, they treated us to pasta & salad & my team had an outing. We got to go bowling, which was pretty fun.

I'm giving myself a treat tomorrow & I'm getting something from the salad place I love so much. That'll be dinner for tomorrow night & lunch for Friday. Not too bad for $7.00.

Still working on the OT, but not so much this week. I'm getting back on board tomorrow. I just had to enjoy the nice weather we've been having.

Oh, and so far I've lost 6.5 lbs on the weight watchers. YAY!

My copay is $45.00 per office visit! And after taking high fa-looting pain medication a few times a month for over 25 years, I can now take it and do almost anything!

Be sure to drink lots of water and to be honest for some weird reason dieting always causes me to have more migraines, but I have never been able to figure out why, so I am not saying don't stay on Weight Watchers, I think you are doing great!

Also start a food diary. It took a while for me to figure out my food triggers which are chocolate, red wine, yogurt, oranges (but not grapefruit), and occasionally beans like refries or boiled pintos. Also too many carbs (like waffles or pancakes for breakfast) will occasionally bring one on too, probably something to do with my sugar dropping (father was type 2 diabetic). Sunlight and certain smells and definitely dehydration. Good luck with the new meds. Oh and ice on the base of my skull helps!

Of course you may already do all this stuff so just tell me to shudup!

Thanks for the advice! I've been having them for years, so I know most of my triggers, but unfortunately just plain stress causes them too. I'll have to keep an eye on the carbs, I hadn't really though of that one. I know alcohol can sometimes do it... I seem to have problems with beer & wine, so I stay away from them. I will definately have to try the ice pack next time though. I've used wet washcloths before, but I hate the dripping. The ice pack would probably be easier.

    Househopeful--Congrats on the weight loss.

Homebody--If you get migraines while dieting it may be from using artificial sweetners like aspartame, which causes doozies in people already prone to bad headaches. It also generates MSG in its creation, another migraine trigger. Just a possibility for you to look into.
